SHRIMP DE JONGHE WITH BAKED PENNE AND GARLIC BUTTER BREAD CRUMBS
July 1, 2017 – Shrimp De Jonghe with Baked Penne and Garlic Butter Bread Crumbs – Another yummy pasta dish from Home Chef. This meal was a snap to cook, and offered very nice rich, creamy flavors. Since we are both pasta lovers at our house, I added some additional pasta to the recipe to stretch the dish and make enough for two days. All I had was rotini, so that’s what I added, and it worked out fine. I also added a bit of extra shrimp so the additional pasta would not be too plain. We both loved the creamy, cheesy sauce in this dish. It is made with evaporated milk, garlic, and parmesan cheese so you can just imagine how wonderful it was! The shrimp is seared separately and then added to the sauce along with cherry tomatoes. The sauce is then poured over the cooked pasta and added to a casserole dish for baking. Just before baking, you add a delicious topping made of melted butter, garlic and panko bread crumbs. Then you bake the dish for about 12 minutes. The topping gets crispy and golden brown and adds a bit of a crunchy texture to the pasta. The sauce is truly amazing with the cheese taking main stage and making everything work together perfectly.
